2017. Year 24. April
Friday 5 May, in the Riga Dome Cathedral by duo concert for organ and piano begins the concert project "Mind and Spirit" by Ilze Duminya – Kroja and Katrina Kroja.
By unusual and unique duo concert for organ and piano in the Riga Dome Cathedral on 5 May at 19.00, begins the concert project "MIND AND SPIRIT" by Ilze Duminya – Kroja and Catherine Kroja.
The thought to play with Katrina is as natural as talking to her. We played together for the first time in a church in Munich when Katrina was seven years old. On this evening too, each of us will play her favourite instrument.
Her Mind, mine …, Yours …, the Spirit of the Riga Cathedral and the Spirit of the composer - all of it combines into an endless and everflowing springhead of inspiration.
This is a reason that’s why the Marcel Dupré's "Angelus" introduces the concert program of this duo 15-th anniversary, after what will follow the works by Joe Utterback with "Dreamscape" and "Sky scape", up to Carson P. Cooman’s "In The Light".
Katrina has chosen to fill the sacred halls of the Cathedral with the deep and intense character of Franz Schubert's piano sonata in a minor op.143. In terms of passion and depth though, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's organ sonata in a major will not lag behind.
Towards to the end of concert’s cycle will be introduced to the listener once more into the world and mind of genius French composer, pianist and organist Marcel Dupré with his "Sinfonia op.42" for piano and organ.
